Russia imposes rolling import ban on food from Albania.
The substance of this case study is contained in FOOD (AUSTRALIA – RUSSIA) and AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS (UNITED STATES – RUSSIA) as they share similar timeline and context.
One point of difference is that in 2014, Russia placed a ban on Albanian agricultural exports on the basis of forged phytosanitary certificates, claming that the products were being trans-shipped from the EU to Russia via Albania to avoid the EU ban. Similar measures were applied to Montenegro and Moldova according to news reports.
